    As Beijing counts down to the 2008 Games, world-class musicians are locked in a heated contest to compose the Olympic theme tune.
    Giorgio Moroder is one of the numerous composers interested in writing the song.
    The beginning of the song should include some Chinese string music and singing by a Chinese child, said Moroder on the sidelines of an Olympic music forum last Friday in Beijing.
    "Children are our future, and many successful Olympic songs were performed by kids," said Moroder, who suggested that a national singing contest should be organized to select over 1,000 children aged between five and 10, the best of whom would perform at the opening ceremony.
    "At the core part of the song, the thematic lyric 'One World One Dream' should be repeated by one Chinese singer and a foreign singer," Moroder said, adding that he would also find an appropriate Chinese word to end the song with, as he did for "Hand in Hand," the song he wrote for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
    "Hand in Hand" was regarded as the best ever Olympic theme song by former International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Antonio Samaranch.
    In fact, Moroder's connection with Beijing Olympics can be traced back to 1993 when he produced "Good Luck Beijing" for the city's bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics.
    This time round the famed composer is working with renowned Chinese contemporary pianist Kong Xiangdong, who will help acquaint him with Chinese music.
    The two previously worked together composing the "Garden of Harmony" for Shenyang China International Horticultural Exposition 2006.

  • Giorgio in the Dance Music Hall of Fame
    The 1st Annual Dance Music Hall of Fame Ceremony took place at Spirit in New York City on September 20, 2004. The artists inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame that night were Barry White, Donna Summer, and the Bee Gees. Producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, DJs David Mancuso, Larry Levan, and Tee Scott, and remixer Tom Moulton were also inducted. Classic dance records were inducted: and one was "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer.

  • - There is a new Dutch 3-cd set called "Ultimate Collection - Donna Summer". The first 2 cd are her greatest dutch hits including The Hostage and Lady Of The Night digitally remastered. The third disk is a collection of remixes and live performances.

  • - Universal Music released a Donne Summer compilation (as a single disc, and as a double CD) "The Journey: The Very Best Of Donna Summer". Yes...... another compilation..... but this time it will be a very special one, because the album will incude 2 brandnew tracks produced by Giorgio Moroder. Maybe a new kind of marketing tactic? I love such tactics ;)

  • - 2003 may, 26: Repertoire Records reissued a very rare lp released only in Japan back in year 1973. "Spinach 1" is the title and contain the songs performed by Giorgio Moroder and Michael Holm (Spinach).

  • - 2003 march, 26: released the new Yuki Koyanagi cd "Yuki - The Disco". Covers of the '70s including Donna Summer great hits. Despite the japanese version of the previous released single, the covers are performed in english. Nice "disco" arrangements and good performance of a japanese star.

  • - 2003 march, 5: the japanese pop-star Yuki Koyanagi released a new maxi-single "On the Radio", a cover of Donna Summer performed in japanese and composed by Moroder for the movie "Foxes" 1980.

    This CD includes Moroders "early works" and some later productions he did for Hansa/BMG with Bonnie Tyler.
    All tracks have been previously released on CD, most of them on the CD "Early Works" which is long out of print.

  • Martine McCutcheon released january 2001 a new version of "On The Radio" and did the best new entry in the UK. This song was performed by Donna Summer back in 1980.

  • Sheena Easton released november 2000 a new version of "Givin In, Giving Up" originally performed by "The Three Degrees".

  • Giorgio Moroder: Radio Gardena (Moroder`s birthplace radiostation) will do a special dedicated to Giorgio Moroder on november 2000. This special include 7 hours (one/week) and is about Moroder`s Discographie with 71 songs starting from 1966. The special is in ladin (Gardena Valley`s language).

  • new musical: "Hexi" for Germany. Director is Rudi Edl. Story about a young witch in year 2000 and is the story of a young girl who is learning the full extent of her magic powers. From the Middle Ages arrive a witch (male), and the young witch have to married him. She don`t know to be a a witsc. This musical is scheduled to open in a newly created theater in the year 2001, Blankenburg (Harz ) in Germany.

  • The Planet Harz project: the idea is to create an urban development in the city of Blankenburg. It consists of building new resort hotels and spas, golf courses, restaurants, shopping and conference centers. Space for diverse sporting activities such as in-line skating, horseback riding, snow skiing, bunge-jumping and various other multi-cultural tourist attractions will be available too. The project includes the transformation of the Blankenburg castle into a 5-star hotel. Giorgio Moroder's will design an art park featuring the world's largest pieces of digital art, videos, paintings, sculpture and multi-media exhibits. The park will be called the "Moroder Art Park." Giorgio will exhibit a picture of 100 X 28 meter ( the biggest of the world ), sculpures ( possibly Neon?? ), videos and music. Other artist will be have a space. This project will be active in year 2000.
